Ralston Center and the Philadelphia Episcopal Church will be hosting an all-day soup making session for seniors, homeless, homeless veterans or any community member in need in the West Philadelphia area.  Volunteers will help by prepping the ingredients, cooking and packaging soup, cleaning the cooking space and serving soup to guests.

Moderator: Paul Kuehnert, Director and Senior Program Officer, Public Health Team- Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Mr. Kuenert previously served as the County Health Officer for a Chicago-area county. He had also founded a community-based organization to assist people living with HIV and AIDS. He will speak briefly to the role of public health departments and non-profit organizations, will lead the interactive attendee activity which will focus on application of the results of community health needs assessments, and will moderate the panel discussion.
Speaker: Dr. Jeffrey Brenner, Executive Director – Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers, Director – Institute for Urban Health at Cooper University Hospital. Dr. Brenner founded an organization that assists with managing the care of Camden’s most medically vulnerable population. He will speak to the work of the organization and the relationships that it has developed with healthcare providers and hospitals.
Speakers: Dr. Paula Stillman (President, Health Care Services) and Steve Carson (Vice President, Clinical Integration)- Temple University Hospital. Dr. Stillman and Mr. Carson recently helped establish the North Philadelphia Safety Net Partnership, a partnership with TUH, Einstein Medical Center, and Philadelphia Corporation for the Aging. This partnership focuses on preventing hospital readmissions of Medicare patients. They will discuss the establishment of the partnership, the care management process, negotiations with the state, and the parnership’s outcomes.
Speakers: Jan Levine, Esq + one other attorney – Partner, Pepper Hamilton. – Ms. Levine’s area of expertise is the anti-trust implications of healthcare provider partnerships, including accountable care organizations. The 2nd attorney will be an expert on healthcare regulations, particularly Stark. They will present a couple of different healthcare partnership models and their implications. They will also speak to a recent Supreme Court hearing on state action immunity of antitrust regulations.
